PHILIPSBURG--An undisclosed number of police officers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past several days, hinting at another possible cluster among the country’s law enforcement.
Police announced the development in a press release on Tuesday. The positive officers have been sent home, while those in contact with them have been ordered to quarantine. The Philipsburg police station has also been sanitised.
Additionally, police are working with Collective Prevention Services (CPS) to test most of the police officers for COVID-19. “This in an effort to keep the organisation operational for providing safety and security for the community at large,” said police.
The positive officers are said to be doing well.
At least three officers tested positive in August, which forced additional personnel into quarantine and led to police workspaces being sanitised.
