GREAT BAY--The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT), through the Inspectorate of Economic and Transport Affairs (IETA), has published the list of car rental operators that have successfully completed the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process, while giving outstanding permit holders until September 21 to regularize their status.(𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥).
The Ministry said approximately 48 car rental companies have so far completed the process and received their 2026 Confirmation Letters. The exercise forms part of an ongoing clean-up of the public transportation database, aimed at establishing a more accurate register of active operators, strengthening regulatory oversight and improving enforcement planning.
Car rental permit holders whose names do not appear on the published list have been given a final two-week period to notify IETA of their operational status and complete any outstanding requirements. All required documentation must be submitted no later than Monday, September 21, 2026 at 4:00pm by email to teatt.trans@sintmaartengov.org.
Operators that have not yet completed the process are required to submit a tax declaration bearing the company’s CRIB number, motor vehicle inspection cards, vehicle insurance coverage, the car rental permit issued by TEATT, Chamber of Commerce registration, proof of payment for the 2025 business and director’s licence where applicable, an Excel spreadsheet listing all vehicles in the fleet, and copies of all 2026 road tax receipts.
Permit holders who are not currently operating are also required to respond before the deadline by submitting a signed letter explaining their inactive status, along with a copy of their car rental permit. The Ministry said this information is needed to properly update its records and determine the appropriate administrative status of each permit.
TEATT also reminded permit holders that under Article 16(g) of the National Ordinance on Passenger Transport, the Minister may temporarily suspend or permanently revoke a permit when it has not been used for a continuous period of more than six months.
Once the two-week notification period expires, the Ministry will begin its final review of all outstanding car rental permits. Operators who fail to respond or regularize their status may be referred for administrative action in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The Ministry thanked operators who have already completed the process and urged remaining permit holders to use the final opportunity to ensure their records are current before the database clean-up initiative is concluded.
