Rider of a Kawasaki Z650, plate MF 1397, died on September 4, following a motorcycle accident on Link 1.

BELAIR--A motorcyclist has died following a serious single-vehicle accident on Octavius L. Richardson Road also known as Link 1 on Friday morning. The accident occurred at about 10:55am and involved a Kawasaki Z650 motorcycle bearing licence plate MF 1397.

According to preliminary information from the Police Force of St. Maarten (KPSM), the motorcyclist was travelling along Richardson Road from the direction of the One Tete Lohke Roundabout towards Divi Little Bay Road when, for reasons that remain unclear, the rider entered the right roadside area.

The motorcycle subsequently collided with a guardrail, causing the rider to be thrown onto the roadway. When police arrived at the scene, the rider was found unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel provided assistance before transporting the victim by ambulance to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment. The motorcyclist later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident and died in the afternoon.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. KPSM has not provided further information about the victim. KPSM is urging motorists and other road users to exercise caution and remain attentive while travelling on the island’s roads.
