This afternoon through Sunday midday: Southwesterly to southerly with a light to fresh breeze of 05 to 22 mph and higher gusts possible.  

SYNOPSIS:   

Tropical Storm Earl is the dominant weather feature. Consequently, cloudiness, and gusty winds with showers and thunderstorms are expected across the local area. Residents and users of areas prone to flooding are advised to exercise caution as moderate to heavy showers leading to flooding are expected.  

Above normal seas are expected to peak up to 8 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough          WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 8 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
At 11:00 AM (1500 UTC), Tropical Storm Earl was located about 83 miles northeast of St. Maarten. The storm continues to move toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). This motion, with a decrease in forward speed is expected through early Sunday. On the current forecast track, the center of Tropical Storm Earl is forecast to pass at its closest about 79 miles (127 km) north northeast of St. Maarten in a couple of hours. 

Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km), mainly to the north and east of the center. 

 

OUTLOOK through Monday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms possible.
