Tonight through Sunday evening: Generally overcast and windy with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Sunday evening: East northeasterly to southeasterly with moderate to strong winds of 15 to 25 mph and higher gusts. 

SYNOPSIS:   

Rain bands from Fiona and an unstable atmosphere will account for moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and strong winds across the local area. These showers will cause flooding and possible rock falls. A flood advisory remains in effect for St. Maarten. People in areas prone to flooding and rock slides should take the necessary precautions. 

Hazardous seas will continue with swells up to 12 feet during the next 24 hours. A small craft warning will remain in effect for St. Maarten. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water.
The public and in particular residents in areas prone to flooding or near the coast should remain vigilant and monitor the updates from the Meteorological Department and Disaster Management.

SPECIAL FEATURE:  

At 5:00 PM (2100 UTC), the center of tropical storm Fiona was located about 135 miles southwest of St. Maarten.   

Fiona is slowly moving away from St. Maarten toward the west northwest near 09 mph (15 km/h).  

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the Atlantic and keep the public updated accordingly. 

OUTLOOK through Monday evening: Generally cloudy to overcast and breezy with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
