SABA/ST. EUSTATIUS--The number of jobs in Bonaire has increased by an average of five per cent per year as of 2011, and in St. Eustatius and Saba by three and four per cent on average, respectively, the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) reports based on newly released figures.

There were nearly 11,000 employee jobs in Bonaire in 2019. The sector accommodation and food services, including hotels and vacation rentals, provides 1,600 jobs, making it the largest employer. The other two largest employment sectors in Bonaire are trade and services.

Compared with Bonaire, the number of jobs is considerably lower in Statia (1,340) and Saba (870). The biggest employment sectors in Statia are transport – including oil transhipment, communication and information, as well as the public sector and health care. The latter two are also the largest sectors in Saba, along with education, due to the annex of a medical school there.

These figures were taken from new CBS publications on jobs and wages in the Caribbean Netherlands.
