ST. EUSTATIUS--St. Eustatius experienced a power outage on Wednesday, November 11. St. Eustatius Utility Company STUCO stated that that the extended power outage during the afternoon hours was caused by a contractor who is currently working around the King’s Well area. The contractor damaged the high-voltage underground cable.

STUCO made repairs and restored power to the island after several hours.  STUCO extended its regrets for any inconvenience that was caused to the public as a result of what it described as an “avoidable incident.”

This was the second blackout Statia has experienced this week. No explanation was given for the first interruption of the electricity supply to businesses and private consumers.
