PHILIPSBURG:--- Soualiga Corporate Toastmasters Club (SCTMC) enthusiastically jump started the 2016/2017 year of activities during their meeting themed “KICK OFF” on July 27th, 2016 followed by a backwards meeting themed “Being a Leader” on August 10th, 2016. Backwards meetings are one of the many creative ways that Toastmasters keep meetings exciting and interesting where the entire meeting is held in reverse starting with the last item on the agenda and ending by welcoming the members and guests to the meeting.
SCTMC was chartered on August 25, 2004 and is the fun place where civil servants meet to acquire the tools that enable members to become effective communicators and leaders. It is a part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization that help members learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking via a vibrant program of communication and leadership projects. Our friendly island is currently home to six Toastmasters clubs for which the vivacious SCTMC is the one and only corporate club.
With a lot of innovative and creative activities and meetings coming up, 2016/2017 promises to be an active year for the civil servants’ Toastmasters club. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month by the Government Building in the A.C. Wathey Legislative Hall for all civil servants at 5:30 PM. The next meeting will held on August 24th, 2016 for the Humorous and Evaluation Speech Contest.
