GREAT BAY--Windward Islands Bank (WIB) successfully hosted its “Walking into the Future – Building Progress” Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, September 27, bringing together employees, customers, families and members of the community for a morning focused on health, wellness, sustainability and connection.
The event began at 5:30 a.m. at WIB’s Bush Road Digital Branch, where participants gathered for a warm-up before setting off at 6:00 a.m. The route took walkers through Bush Road, Welgelegen Road, Church Hill, Little Bay and Philipsburg before returning to the Bush Road location.
The Walk-a-Thon was designed to encourage active lifestyles while also creating an opportunity for participants to enjoy the island’s surroundings and connect with others along the route. Fruit stations were placed at designated points, while water refill stations allowed participants to refill reusable bottles, supporting WIB’s efforts to encourage more sustainable choices.
WIB employees played an active role throughout the event, assisting with registration, coordination and participant support. The St. Maarten Red Cross also provided assistance to help ensure the safety of participants during the walk.
Following the walk, participants returned to the Bush Road Digital Branch for breakfast and an opportunity to relax, connect and celebrate the morning’s accomplishment.
The event had originally been scheduled for August 30 but was postponed because of adverse weather conditions. It was rescheduled for September 27, with the successful turnout reflecting the continued enthusiasm and support of participants, employees, partners and members of the community.
Through initiatives such as the Walk-a-Thon, WIB said it remains committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, environmental responsibility and meaningful community engagement.
The Bank extended appreciation to everyone who participated in, supported and contributed to the successful execution of the event.
