GREAT BAY--Member of Parliament Sjamira Roseburg is marking Teachers’ Day with a week-long public appreciation initiative that gives residents an opportunity to recognize a teacher who has made a meaningful difference in their lives.

As part of the initiative, three teachers will each receive a free manicure or pedicure courtesy of Beautique. Rather than limiting participation to Teachers’ Day itself, Roseburg is giving the public the entire week to share their stories and highlight educators who have had a lasting impact on them.

Residents can participate through Roseburg’s Instagram page,@iamsjamiraroseburg, or her Facebook page,Sjamira Roseburg. Participants are asked to leave a comment naming the teacher they wish to recognize, identify the teacher’s school, and explain what that teacher has done for them, how the teacher made a difference in their life, or why they continue to value and appreciate that educator.

The initiative is intended to place attention on the impact teachers often have far beyond the classroom. Teachers not only provide academic instruction, but can also encourage students, build their confidence, inspire their ambitions and remain important influences long after their school years have ended.

Roseburg is encouraging residents to think about that one teacher who believed in them, supported them, challenged them or simply made an impression that they still carry today.

At the end of this week, three teachers will be selected as winners and Roseburg will announce them through her social media platforms and WhatsApp Channel.

The public therefore has the remainder of the week to participate by visiting@iamsjamiraroseburg on InstagramorSjamira Roseburg on Facebook, finding the Teachers’ Day giveaway post and sharing the name and story of a teacher they believe deserves to be recognized.

Through the initiative, Roseburg is encouraging the community to use Teachers’ Day not only to say thank you, but to publicly acknowledge the educators whose commitment and encouragement continue to make a difference, one student at a time.
