Under the agreement, NV GEBE will undertake the rewiring of the park's electrical installations to improve safety and reliability. The company has contracted Walker Electrical Company to carry out the work in accordance with the agreed scope of the project.

The improvements are intended to strengthen the electrical infrastructure at one of St. Maarten's community spaces, which is used by families, residents, visitors and organizations for recreational, social and cultural activities.

NV GEBE Temporary Manager Iris Arrindell said the initiative reflects the company's commitment to community development and its responsibility to help maintain safe public facilities.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the safety and continued development of the communities we serve. Emilio Wilson Park holds an important place in the social and cultural life of St. Maarten, providing a space where families, residents, and organizations can come together. By supporting improvements to its electrical infrastructure, we are contributing to a safer environment and helping preserve a valued community space for present and future generations,” Arrindell stated.

She also emphasized the importance of cooperation between NV GEBE and community organizations in identifying infrastructure needs and addressing areas where improvements can benefit the public.

The planned electrical works form part of NV GEBE's wider efforts to support community infrastructure beyond its primary responsibility for providing electricity and water services.

According to the company, partnerships with community stakeholders remain important in strengthening public safety, maintaining facilities used by residents and contributing to the sustainable development of St. Maarten.

With Walker Electrical Company contracted to execute the project, the electrical upgrades are scheduled to be completed before the end of November, providing Emilio Wilson Park with improved electrical installations to support its continued use by the community.
