GREAT BAY--Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication Grisha Heyliger-Marten has announced that limited vending spaces will once again be made available in Philipsburg for the upcoming Christmas season, with the designated vendor lane to operate along Pondfill, Walter Nisbeth Road, between Ketty’s and Fatboy.

The vending period is expected to run from December 21, 2026 through January 4, 2027. Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, with only a limited number of vendors able to participate this year.

Heyliger-Marten said the Ministry will publish an official notice and flyer this week announcing the date on which application forms will become available. Applications will only be available for collection in person, and the deadline for completed submissions will fall in early November, as specified in the official notice.

Because the number of available spaces is limited, the application counter will close once the maximum number of applications that can be considered has been reached. Interested vendors are therefore being encouraged to monitor the upcoming announcement closely and act promptly once applications become available.

Following the close of the application period, the responsible department intends to notify applicants within approximately one week whether they have been successful in securing a vending space.

The application package will outline the requirements, specifications and conditions for participation, including the necessary arrangements and approvals involving the Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure, GEBE and other applicable authorities.

Heyliger-Marten said the objective is to ensure that the Christmas vending area contributes positively to the atmosphere and experience of Philipsburg during the holiday season while also creating an opportunity for local vendors to benefit from increased activity in the capital.

Particular attention will therefore be given to the presentation, organization, safety and overall appearance of the vending area. Vendors who are selected will be expected to comply with the conditions established for the operation of the lane and with the requirements of the relevant authorities.

The designated stretch between Ketty’s and Fatboy along Walter Nisbeth Road will form part of the Ministry’s effort to bring additional Christmas activity to Philipsburg while maintaining an organized vending environment for residents, visitors and businesses.

Interested vendors are being advised to begin preparing now and to look out for the official TEATT announcement confirming when application forms can be collected.
