GREAT BAY--The Council of Ministers has approved two full days off for civil servants for the remainder of 2026, Christmas Eve on Thursday, December 24, and New Year’s Eve on Thursday, December 31.

The approved days off are subject to the condition that the service permits. Civil servants working in essential services or departments that must remain operational will receive specific working arrangements from their respective management teams.

Any additional days off outside of December 24 and December 31 will depend on the availability of an employee’s remaining vacation days and whether the service permits.

Government said the announcement is being made well in advance to ensure that civil servants have sufficient time to make the necessary professional and personal arrangements for the holiday period.

Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, expressed appreciation to civil servants for their continued commitment, dedication and service to the Government and people of St. Maarten.

The Prime Minister also wished civil servants and their families a safe, peaceful and enjoyable holiday season.
