GREAT BAY--Contour Airlines will begin nonstop service between St. Thomas and St. Maarten on October 5, adding another direct air connection within the northeastern Caribbean and giving travelers a new option between the U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Maarten.
The new route will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, between Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas and Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten. Contour will use 30-seat regional jets for the service.
On Mondays, flights are scheduled to leave St. Thomas at 11:35 a.m. and arrive in St. Maarten at 12:30 p.m. The return flight will depart St. Maarten at 1:15 p.m., arriving in St. Thomas at 2:10 p.m.
The Friday schedule will see flights depart St. Thomas at 12:35 p.m. and reach St. Maarten at 1:35 p.m. The return leg will leave St. Maarten at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in St. Thomas at 3:25 p.m.
The service removes the need for travelers between the two destinations to connect through another Caribbean airport, making movement between St. Maarten and the U.S. Virgin Islands more convenient for leisure, business and visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic.
For St. Maarten, the route adds another regional connection through Princess Juliana International Airport, which continues to serve as an important hub linking the destination with markets throughout the Caribbean, North America and Europe.
The St. Thomas route also forms part of Contour Airlines’ continued expansion in the Caribbean. The carrier entered the regional market in 2025 and already operates service between St. Thomas and Dominica.
U.S. Virgin Islands Tourism Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King said stronger regional air links can create additional opportunities for tourism, commerce and movement between neighboring Caribbean destinations.
“This new service between St. Thomas and St. Maarten makes it easier for travelers to experience two vibrant Caribbean destinations while creating new opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange,” she said.
Contour first announced the St. Thomas-St. Maarten route in July as part of a broader expansion of its Caribbean network, which also included plans for service linking Dominica with Trinidad and Tobago.
The airline has also established interline relationships with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines, providing passengers with additional opportunities to connect beyond Contour’s own route network.
