MARIGOT--A young woman was killed in French Quarter around 5:30pm Thursday in what appeared to be a deliberate assassination.
The victim was identified by sources as Latoya Flanders (31).
Capitaine Emmanuel Maignan said the victim had just stepped out of her car and was talking to a friend before going into her house on Mullet Fish Road, close to Coralita Road, when the gunman appeared and fired several shots at her. Witnesses reported seeing two suspects fleeing the scene on foot.
Gendarmes and a forensic team responded to the incident, but there was no immediate arrest. No further information or motive for the shooting could be obtained by press time
