ST. EUSTATIUS--The Sport and Health Expo marked its fifth anniversary with a full programme of activities from September 15 to 26, geared toward promoting a healthier lifestyle. The Statia Government Public Health Prevention Clinic and the St. Eustatius Sport Facilities Foundation (SSFF) organised the nearly two-week health event. The event featured Dr. Sherlianne Osepa and Naturopath Delroy Humphries, who held a series of Health Information Sessions from September 19 to 23.
The series of health sessions covered obesity, reducing inflammation, metabolic health, and improving overall health, women’s hormonal health, PMS, and the menstrual cycle, wellness, understanding how the body works, herbs and spices, and other topics. The sessions were held at the Ernest “Mike” van Putten Youth Centre (Lions Den).

An information session was also held for government workers, where topics covered typology, nutrition, and practical tools for a healthier workday. The week also saw a Dance-A-Thon Lighting Parade, where a large crowd walked from the Sports Hall with signs, lighted accessories, and other items. The parade concluded at the Lions Den.
The event centred on Expo Day on Friday, September 25, at the Johan Cruyff Court. Under the theme “Small Movement, Big Impact”, a variety of health and wellness activities were organised for everyone, including games for primary and secondary school students.
Sport and Health Expo Day was well attended, with 30 vendors taking part. Persons could buy healthy food, play fun games, and learn about living a healthy lifestyle. It was a mixture of people who came out to the health event, from young schoolchildren to senior citizens. Everyone who came by had the chance to learn more about looking after their health while enjoying a lively and informative day together.
The celebration concluded on September 26 with an evening of entertainment featuring two local bands. The Statia Public Health Prevention Clinic and the SSFF expressed appreciation to everyone who took part, attended, and contributed to making the anniversary a success.
