SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Saturday midday: East-northeasterly to easterly with a gentle to moderate breeze of 09 to 18 mph, and higher gusts possible. 

  

SYNOPSIS:   

A passing weak tropical wave will bring cloudy periods, isolated showers, and a low chance of thunder to the local region. Additionally, the Atlantic high-pressure system will maintain gentle to moderate winds. Motorists and persons utilizing low-lying areas should remain vigilant through the next couple of days. 

Seas are expected to peak at 7 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate                 
WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
The strong tropical wave, now termed Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven as of 11:00am, is located about 930 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression is likely to form by Saturday. Impacts on the local area are possible Saturday night through Sunday with heavy rainfall and gusty winds. 

A tropical storm watch will most likely be issued for St. Maarten later today.  

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of this system and update the public accordingly. 

OUTLOOK through Sunday midday: Generally cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms possible.
