This afternoon through Thursday midday: East-northeast to east-southeast with a gentle to fresh breeze of 12 to 20 mph and higher gusts possible. 

  

SYNOPSIS:    

A strengthening pressure gradient will produce brisk winds across the region. Shallow pockets of moisture embedded within the wind flow may trigger some brief showers over St. Maarten. However, Saharan dust is expected to reduce visibility and the chance of any significant rainfall accumulation. Persons with allergies/respiratory illnesses should take the necessary precautions. 

Moderate sea conditions, with waves up to 7 feet are forecast for this period. Seas are expected to peak up to 8 feet on Friday before quickly subsiding on Saturday. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
