POND ISLAND—Panama clobbered St. Maarten 18-0 in the 17th Annual Latin American and Caribbean Junior Division Championships at the Little League Ballpark on Pond Island Wednesday.

  Kevin Ria was the winning pitcher. The best batter for Panama was Edouard Vaughan. He went 3-3.  Derek Arroyo went 2-3 for Panama and had the game’s only home run.
  Keanu Guishard went 1-2 for St. Maarten. Panama scored 18 runs off 12 hits. They had three batters strike out and drew eight walks. St. Maarten had one hit. They had seven go down swinging and drew three walks while leaving six on base.
  The victory expanded Panama’s record to 3-0. St. Maarten was in Pool B with Bonaire, Panama and U.S. Virgin Islands. Virgin Islands also advanced to the round of four with a record of 2-1. Bonaire finished 1-2 and St. Maarten went 0-3.
  In the other pool are Aruba, Colombia, Curacao, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Earlier Wednesday Puerto Rico blasted Aruba 18-5 and Curacao beat Colombia 9-6.
  Currently Puerto Rico leads the group at 3-0. Venezuela is 2-1 and followed by Curacao and Colombia at 1-2 and Aruba at 1-3.
  Action continues Thursday at 4:00pm as Colombia meets Puerto Rico and at 7:00pm Venezuela takes on Curacao.
