Dumont d’Urville is a multi-purpose support vessel that entered active service in April 2020. Based in Fort-de-France, the ship is 65 metres long and 14 metres wide. She can carry out maritime surveillance, humanitarian assistance, marine pollution response and anti-narcotics missions. Four vessels of this type are in service with the French Navy, in New Caledonia, Réunion, Tahiti and Martinique.

Particularly adapted to humanitarian assistance missions, she is designed to carry a large number of passengers in case of evacuation and to transport liquid or material cargo in large quantities; and she has a towing capacity.

Dumont d’Urville is due to be departing today to continue her missions in French and international territorial waters.
