Inside the renovated facility

Interim director of “Fundashon Marshe” Remy Ricardo and Minister of Economic Development MEO Roderick Middelhof held a meeting with the entrepreneurs on Tuesday during which agreements regarding guidelines and communication were reiterated.

To be able to return to the facility in Punda, every tenant must settle all outstanding arrears. Those who have not succeeded in doing so cannot move back yet.

Another rule is that the entrepreneurs will receive a pass for identification, which they are expected to wear at all times. This allows inspection teams to easily verify, during the execution of their checks, whether someone has permission to sell items at the market and which products are involved.

With the permission of all parties, security cameras have been installed to guarantee the safety of both visitors and vendors. Those who use water and electricity are being provided with prepaid metres to prevent the accumulation of new debts.

Ricardo asked everyone involved to take good care of the market now that the building has been renovated.
