ANGUILLA--On Saturday, February 17, Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre was demolished. It had been used for more than fifty years for many performances but was now in a dilapidated condition and no longer functional. DART is the funding partner with the government and Minister of Social Develop-ment and Education, Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers reported that they have made a generous donation. The company bought Four Seasons Resort Anguilla in August 2022 and agreed at that time to fund a social project.

The new centre was designed by Courtney Morton with the assistance of Daryl Richardson and Kaseem Forde. It is planned that it will form the epicentre of all cultural activities and not just be used at Carnival time. Rogers said that over the years the centre has been used primarily for the Summer Festival but she hopes that the new centre will provide for dance and theatre groups to use the facili-ty year round. She also said that the Department of Youth and Culture will have an office on the upper floor of the building.

This year is the 50th anniversary of Carnival in Anguilla and it is hoped the first phase of the new centre will be finished in time for this.
