ST. EUSTATIUS--A residence on Vincent A. Lopez Road was temporarily rendered uninhabitable following a fire on the morning of Saturday August 15

The Central Control Room received a report of a fire outside the residence at approximately 11:45am. The fire had started near a washing machine located on the porch.

Firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze before it could spread further.

A resident who was inside the house at the time was able to evacuate safely. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.

The residence sustained heavy smoke damage and is temporarily uninhabitable. Alternative temporary accommodation has been arranged for the residents.
