Supervision and enforcement.
KRALENDIJK--From July 21 to 29, two inspectors from Bonaire’s Directorate of Supervision & Enforcement DT&H paid a working visit to St. Eustatius. Together with local colleagues, they conducted joint controls while sharing knowledge and expertise.
In this way, the so-called BES islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba) are working together on a strong, professional and future-proof implementation of supervision and enforcement, according to a government release.
During that week, inspectors carried out checks at supermarkets, gas stations and freight locations, among others, including on food safety, accurate measurements as well as compliance with laws and regulations. Thanks to the cooperation, more visits could be carried out and businesses were better supported in complying with the rules.
In addition to the controls, those involved exchanged experiences and learned from each other’s working methods. In this way, the quality of supervision and enforcement on the BES islands is further strengthened, and the islands are increasingly working in the same manner, added the statement.
DT&H thanked the colleagues from Statia for the warm welcome and pleasant cooperation. It said the personal and professional development of employees is important within the directorate.
“Employees are therefore actively encouraged to further develop their knowledge, skills, and experience. Collaboration and knowledge exchange with colleagues on the other BES islands contribute to such.
“This joint inspection week builds on the strong foundation for further future cooperation between Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba,” concluded the release.
