St. Maarten News – Investigators conducted a house search at the home of former State Secretary of Public Health in the Netherlands Antilles, Joan Smart-Berkel, in Pointe Blanche on Tuesday. The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the search took place in the context of the Papegaai (Parrot) human trafficking investigation against the owners of the Casablanca brothel in Oyster Pond.

This is the fourth search in the course of this investigation. Earlier, investigators raided Casablanca and two homes belonging to the brothel owner and her family.
