PHILIPSBURG:— On December 10, 2020, in the spirit of sharing holiday cheer and contributing to the community, the Parliament of Sint Maarten held its annual Christmas event.
Each year the Parliament of Sint Maarten makes an effort to bring good cheer to the public of Sint Maarten in some form during the Christmas season. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Christmas cheer was done a little differently this year, as Members of Parliament went into the various community districts to spread the Christmas Cheer Representatives of the Community Councils of Sucker Garden, Middle Region, Belvedere, Dutch Quarter Quarter, South Reward, St. Peters, Cay Bay, Simpson Bay, and Downstreet were contacted to submit the names of three families who could do with an extra cheer this holiday season.

 On December 10, 2020, Members of Parliament were paired by two’s to hand-deliver Christmas baskets filled with food essentials and share holiday wishes to the proposed families. The handing over of the baskets took place at the Community Center within the respective district.

 The Parliament of Sint Maarten would like to express appreciation to the representatives of the various community Councils for their assistance in making this year’s Christmas Cheer possible. The Parliament of Sint Maarten also takes this opportunity to wish the residence of Sint Maarten a Merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year.
