CAYHILL:--- St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has recently completed the necessary roof repairs to bring its roof back to the original state as it was prior to Hurricane Irma. Slated to commence shortly is a roof reinforcement project.
Earlier this year, SMMC started roof repairs and upgrades to its infrastructure after the damage caused by Hurricane Irma. The roof reinforcement project is a necessary step in order to further safeguard patients and staff during major storms, as SMMC transitions towards the new hospital. The new hospital has seen upgrades made in its design, after the passing of Hurricane Irma last year, in order to withstand storms in the heaviest category.
SMMC Facilities Manager, Ms. Erika van der Host, stated: “SMMC would like to thank all persons involved to complete the renovation works in a timely manner”. She concluded: “We are also looking forward to the roof reinforcement project, slated to commence shortly, which will add strength to the entire roof section in the interim while we embark on the building of the new hospital”.
