PHILIPSBURG:---Former Member of Parliament, the Honorable Wycliffe Smith honoured the Sint Maarten Christian Party campaign pledge to donate fifteen percent of the salary of the Member of Parliament to worthy causes at the celebration of Emancipation Day hosted by VOICES Foundation at the Emilio Wilson Heritage Park.
Currently the Minister of Education, Youth, Culture, and Sports, Mr. Smith sat for three months as a representative of the people in the House of Parliament. He presented the first month’s deduction of two thousand nine hundred and fourteen guilders and forty five cents (Ang 2,914.45) to the president of VOICES, Ms. Nkosazana Illis.
VOICES Foundation seeks to promote self- awareness, empowerment, and prevention of all forms of abuse and violence. The foundation has held annual cultural ancestral activities each Emancipation Day, paying honour to our ancestors and the unsung heroes of today.
