POINTE BLANCHE:--- World Maritime Day was observed annually on September 26. The 2019 theme is “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community.” The theme according to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality, in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to highlight the important – yet under-utilized – contribution of women within the maritime sector.
