MULLET BAY:--- Jesus Antonio Rivera started this first tournament of the year, winning the January Medal Play Golf Tournament organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association SMGA. Saturday morning a total of 24 golfers teed off one by one in anticipation of what the day would bring.

As for Rivera, who finished the par 70 Mullet Bay Golf Course with a score of 78 strokes, it was enough to win both the Overall Low Gross for the tournament, as well as the 1st Low Gross prize in the Men’s category.

The Overall Low Net prize of the tournament was won by Frank Jespersen with a net score of 67. While Stanley Samuel won 1st low net in the Men’s category with a 73 Low Net score. In the same category came the winner of the fewest putts. This time it was Rodney Tackling who needed only 28 putts over 18 holes.

In the Ladies Category Sidsel Jacobsen won 1st Low Gross with a score of 89 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Marie Gibbons with a Low Net score of 76 strokes.

In the category Senior’s for players between 50 and 60 years old, Philippe Thevenet won the prize for 1st Low Gross with a score of 85 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Sam Bashir with a Net score of 76.

In the Super Seniors Category for players over 60 years old, 1st Low Gross was won by Buz Adamski with a score of 86 and 1st Low Net was won by Frank Jespersen, the overall 1st Low Net winner.

The SMGA is a non-profit organization that welcomes all beginning and experienced golfers, tourists and St. Maarten / St. Martin residents alike to become members and join them during tournaments and matches.
