Concerned regarding the prospects of continued political instability, in spite of the many promises, made to the electorate”

PHILIPSBURG:---- Leader of the P.P.A, states: “ First of all, I take this opportunity to congratulate all the political parties that took part in the Parliament elections on September 26th last. Congratulations to the Leaders of the two largest parties, the UPP and the NA party.
I also publicly thank the voters who bravely cast their votes for our candidates of the People’s Progressive Alliance. Our candidates and support worked hard during this brief and complicated election cycle.
U took the brave step to be part of the solution in helping to move our Island forward. Clearly disappointed, we must respect the choice of the People.
We were not successful at the polls, in spite of P.P.A having a clear vision and direction with feasible ideas to create many new jobs for the jobless and inexperienced, help our elderly, creating great options for our Youth in many areas, and return Respect, Peace and Prosperity to our Nation, to mention a few. Our wish for our People remains steadfast. To have a Strong, Stable and Secure St. Maarten”.
Gracita said: “The new Parliament and new Government has a lot of work ahead, including restore trust to the electorate. It is my sincerest desire that both institutions of governance and of government get to work and deliver on its promises sooner rather than later.”
“The ink was barely dry on the ‘agreement’ made between the two largest political parties, victorious at the polls of September 26th last. Information reaching the public domain regarding alleged declarations of independence by several elected members is already causing anxiety among our citizens.”
Gracita states: “It is my sincerest hope that Country above self-prevails in the days ahead, and that history does not repeat itself.
I conclude with this quote by TACITUS as food for thought: “ Men are more ready to repay an injury than a benefit because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure”. I hope our People wake up.
