~AUC extends special invitation to Generation New Status STM ~
PHILIPSBURG:--- Seventeen band members of the Generation New Status STM Band along with three coaches and Band Leader Urmain “Youmay” Dormoy will travel to Miami, Florida this Friday May 18th to perform at the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) graduation ceremonies on Saturday May 19th at the University of Miami Watsco Center. The band has performed each year at the university’s commencement ceremonies in St. Maarten for the past eight years. A special invitation was extended to have them travel to Miami as AUC had to move the ceremonies and has begun a phased return to their Cupecoy campus due to damages caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Generation New Status STM continues to enjoy a good relationship with AUC who has supported the band through workshops and other recreational activities. The Band will return home on Sunday May 20th and are grateful to American University of the Caribbean for this opportunity and their continued support.
