Last week, the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard intercepted two means of transport of illegal immigrants. These events happened in the vicinity of St. Maarten and Aruba. The immigrants have been handed over to the Police and Immigration on both islands.

St. Maarten
On the 31st of October, Coast Guard Cutter Poema stopped a suspect sailing vessel between St. Maarten and Saba. During the inspection of the documents, 10 illegal Cuban immigrants have discovered: men, women, and 2 children. The sailing vessel was escorted to the Coast Guard substation in St. Maarten. The crew was handed over to the KPSM and the illegal immigrants to Immigration.

Aruba
On the 1st of November, a suspect contact South of Baby Beach was discovered by the radar of the Coast Guard substation in Aruba. Coast Guard Cutter Panter was sent to intercept the contact in collaboration with a Coast Guard Superrhib. The contact was discovered to be a go fast with 20 men on board of Venezuelan, Colombian and Peruan nationality. The go fast was escorted to the Coast Guard sub station in Aruba. The crew was arrested for human trafficking. 8 Illegal immigrants were taken into custody by the KPA. 10 Others were brought to Warda nos, Costa.
