PHILIPSBURG:--- Following the success of the Stand for SXM march on Wednesday, August 29, the organizers of the STAND FOR SXM Petition and march have decided to step up their efforts through the creation of the Stand for SXM Foundation.

The organizers have invited every political party to suggest a representative who will take a seat on the board of this new foundation. The parties by way of letter and phone calls have been invited to attend a meeting on Monday, September 10, where the next steps and decisions on the way forward will be discussed.
Objectives of this Foundation to be called the “Stand For SXM Foundation” are as follows:

1. To champion autonomy for SXM; fighting for the right to govern ourselves as described in the Constitution.
2. To develop strategies to erase the current Democratic Deficit; Bringing awareness and fighting for us being true 'Equal Partners' in the Dutch Kingdom.
3. To encourage and develop cultural and patriotic awareness among the citizens of St. Maarten

Once the foundation is officially set up, board members and upcoming activities will be announced.
