Basseterre:--- On Thursday all of Air Antilles planes from the Guadeloupe based company were banned from flying by the DGCA (General Directorate of Civil Aviation) after having read the report issued by the OSAC (Organization for the security of the 'civil aviation) which reported eight deficiencies in the maintenance of the company's fleet.
The CAIRE Group, which brings together the Air Antilles and Air Guyane companies, explains that the suspension by the OSAC results from “an observation of anomalies in the context of a return conveyance, after a ten-month project at a sub-company dealing in the United States, on which certain spare parts had exceeded their calendar limit.
During this flight, no passenger was on board, specifies the CAIRE Group, and the authorization of the CAMO (Continuing airworthiness management organization) monitoring service was suspended for two types of aircraft, "the weather that we provide guarantees that these events could not happen on other aircraft in the fleet and that the service organization was able to anticipate such an event in the future ”.
"This is an administrative check and not calling into question the state of the fleet" insists the CAIRE Group while ensuring that it "has provided proof that the entire operational fleet of the company was in perfect airworthiness, in accordance with the various approved maintenance programs ”.
Air Antilles press release assures that "the administrative checks carried out by the DGCA did not reveal any breaches, whether it concerns compliance with the fleet regulation or maintenance ”.
Air Antilles activity, therefore, returned to normal on Tuesday, August 31, at the end of the morning, "with our entire fleet, respecting the highest safety standards, as we have always done", specifies the press release, while denouncing "fake news which circulated on certain media and social networks".
