In accordance with the Government’s commitments, the vaccination campaign is continuing uninterrupted throughout France, and in particular overseas. Each week, deliveries continue to best meet the needs of each territory. The dose volumes made available are calculated in proportion to the population on the basis of national supplies and take into account the local context.

In order to accelerate the pace, Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of Overseas Territories, and Olivier Véran, Minister of Solidarity and Health, has decided to send additional doses compared to the volumes initially planned for the week of March 22:

● 3,500 additional doses per territory, in Reunion, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Mayotte
● Reunion will benefit from the second restocking of 5,850 doses the week of April 5.
● 6,000 additional doses per territory, in New Caledonia, Guyana, and French Polynesia

In order to directly reach citizens wishing to be vaccinated, the medical teams have deployed a “go-to” approach in the Overseas Territories allowing vaccination to be brought closer to the public whose situation does not allow them to move independently to a point. vaccination. This strategy also aims to overcome the mistrust observed in vaccines, which is stronger in overseas territories than in mainland France; this lack of support is one of the main obstacles to vaccination in the overseas territories.
More particularly, in Wallis-and-Futuna, recently affected by Covid-19 after having been preserved by the epidemic, and in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, still, Covid-free, 18,000 and 9,600 doses were respectively transported in order to be able to vaccinate the entire adult population. These mass vaccination operations will prevent severe forms of the disease in these island environments where the number of resuscitation beds is limited and medical evacuations are complicated.

In total, as of March 21, 247,350 doses of vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca) had been delivered to the various overseas departments, regions, and communities. As of March 22, 164,210 doses have been injected.
