PHILIPSBURG:---- Seventy-year-old Amelie Gumbs, a resident of St Maarten, has hit the Lucky Pick jackpot, walking away with a whopping US$35,500 in cash from the draw held on Tuesday, February 28.

Gumbs, a lover of Super Lotto and Lucky Pick games, who has been playing since 2014 and has previously won $150 in a previous Lucky Pick game, played the numbers 01, 06, 09, 14 and 19.

After claiming her prize at the offices of Caribbean Lottery, Gumbs said she felt “overwhelmed and excited” about her jackpot win.

“It will allow me to take care of things that would otherwise have to wait, such as home repairs,” Gumbs said after completing the process of claiming her money.

The mother of five said she picked this game because she felt she had a “better chance of winning”. Adding that winning the money is a life changing experience, she resolved to continue playing the game on a daily basis.

Her advice for other players is, “Don’t give up. If I had given up I would not be a winner today.”

The winning ticket was purchased on a quick pick basis at Sol St Peters.

“We are excited by this Lucky Pick jackpot win, to say the least!” said a delighted Paula Williams, Caribbean Lottery’s Site Operations Manager in St. Maarten.

“I think people are drawn to this game because it is affordable, with frequent draws and you only need to choose five numbers to win. We are very pleased with our player’s luck and good fortune and encourage others to play to continue the winning streak!” she continued.

Lottery game enthusiasts are able to make their ticket purchases at any one of the over 50 retail stores in St. Maarten. This offers them a fair chance of obtaining life-changing winnings in a variety products. Games in the lottery category include Powerball, Mega Millions, Super Lotto and Lucky Pick. The daily numbers games are Pick 3 and Pick 4 and consumers can also opt to play Caribbean Keno in the Social Space category or try their luck with Scratch Tickets.
