PFP to Launch English Translation of Country Package of Reforms

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – On Monday, 1 March 2021, the Party for Progress will launch an English translation of the landspakket/country package of reforms related to the third tranche of liquidity support from the Netherlands. The document will be provided via the PFP website (www.pfpf.sx). In a brief statement, the party stated:

“One of the main concerns that have been brought to the PFP faction is that the document related to the reform package (the ‘landspakket’) is in the Dutch language.

Week in and week out, Parliament has seen members of Parliament speak about the conditions for support, many referencing bits and pieces for their own pro or con agenda. It was in March 2020 that Government began discussions with the Dutch Government for support and, close to a year later, despite the dynamic nature of these discussions, it is concerning that to date no document has been shared with the population.

Nevertheless, the very foundation of good governance is ensuring that people can understand the laws and policies of their land. PFP believes that whatever your position is on the landspakket/reform package, it should be well-grounded and based on facts, instead of on the agenda of a few.

In this spirit, we commissioned an official translation and are happy to provide this for viewing by the general public, free of charge.”

PFP noted that faction MPs Melissa Gumbs and Raeyhon Peterson would touch base on this in their livestream scheduled for Monday, 8 March 2021, and urged page viewers to join the discussion. The country package can be accessed at https://pfp.sx/country-package/.
