SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - “Becoming HER” is an empowerment and inspirational experience designed specifically for girls ages 13 to 18. Taking place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the forum will provide a supportive space for young girls to build confidence, discover their voices, set meaningful goals, and engage in honest conversations about personal growth and the journey toward becoming the women they aspire to be.

Guided by the theme “Read. Grow. Dream. Become.” the forum is being presented in recognition of the International Day of the Girl, observed annually on October 11. Through this initiative, the Sint Maarten Library aims to create an experience that connects literacy, learning, personal development, and empowerment.

The forum will feature a panel of inspiring women who will share personal experiences, lessons, and practical guidance. Conversations will explore self-confidence, education, career aspirations, friendships, relationships and boundaries, social media pressures, overcoming setbacks, goal setting, and personal growth.

The panel will encourage open and relatable conversations about the challenges, decisions, and experiences that have shaped each woman’s journey, while also providing participants with an opportunity to submit questions anonymously during an “Ask HER Anything” session.

A key component of the experience will be the Becoming HER Vision Frame activity, during which each participant will create a personalized frame representing her goals, values, aspirations, and affirmations.

Literacy will also be incorporated throughout the experience, encouraging participants to view reading, education, and lifelong learning as tools for personal development and empowerment.

Participation in Becoming HER is free, but space is intentionally limited to 15 girls. Advance registration is required. Parents and guardians interested in registering a girl between the ages of 13 and 18 may request a registration form.

Through Becoming HER, the Sint Maarten Library continues to create opportunities beyond books, providing spaces where young people can learn, connect, discover their potential, and be inspired to shape their futures. Read. Grow. Dream. Become. HER.
