Philipsburg — The St. Maarten Sportfishing Foundation (SSFF) is thrilled to commemorate its 15th year as a non-profit organization and the 12th edition of the highly anticipated SXM Wahoo Tournament. This exciting event will take place at Dock Maarten on November 3rd and 4th, 2023, and it is proudly powered by Coors Light, the island's favorite beer, exclusively distributed by International Liquor & Tobacco Ltd NV.

In 2008, just seven months after its inception, the St. Maarten Sportfishing Foundation delivered its inaugural deep-sea fishing tournament, setting the stage for what would become a prominent annual tradition.

The SXM Wahoo Tournament has consistently drawn both local and regional fishermen who gather each November to vie for attractive prizes and, of course, the coveted bragging rights. Taking place during the peak of the wahoo season, this event has earned a reputation as a thrilling pelagic showdown.

As a special touch to mark their 15-year milestone, SSFF has partnered with Dock Maarten as the new hosting venue. This partnership comes full circle, as members of the previously known St. Maarten Big Game Fishing Foundation, including Robby Cijntje, Ricky Lawrence, and the late Egbert "Slim" Richardson, had organized tournaments at this very location for many years.

Dock Maarten, a family-owned and operated marina since 1978, is celebrating 45 years in the St. Maarten marine industry this November. Located in Philipsburg, it features a state-of-the-art mega yacht haven and is also the home of the renowned restaurant Chesterfields, known for its exquisite fresh seafood and award-winning breakfasts.

The SSFF team is enthusiastic about this new partnership and eagerly anticipates hosting the 2023 edition of the SXM Wahoo Tournament at Dock Maarten on November 3rd and 4th.”
