The president of the COM, Louis Mussington, went to St James on Wednesday, December 6, with Councilor Arnel Daniel, in charge of transport, for a distribution of safety helmets to young people in the neighborhood.

The Community and its president are committed to the protection of young drivers, particularly on two-wheelers.

The “Community at the heart of the neighborhoods” system, supported by the Security Prevention Mission, was initiated in 2022 and allowed the president, local elected officials and state representatives to visit all the neighborhoods of Saint-Martin to distribute protective helmets.

This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss various social issues with local residents and to promote close ties with residents.

The COM thanks the partner associations and personalities of the neighborhood, like the Aman association and Mr. Mingau and Mr. Paul Whit as well as the agents of the CLSPD – Mission Prévention Sécurité – for their unfailing involvement, these recent months, in the service of the success of this system.

Save lives

This is a good initiative to make Saint-Martin youth aware of the risks involved in riding a motorcycle or scooter without a standard helmet. As a reminder, an unsecured helmet is ineffective! Wearing a helmet also reduces the likelihood of death. This is no laughing matter, as motorcycle or scooter accidents have become more and more common recently. Even if you are an ace in driving two-wheelers, a lack of attention on your part or another could take your life in the space of a second. _AF
