Over the past year, Sint Maarten has experienced a troubling and persistent pattern of jewelry store robberies and break-ins, particularly in Philipsburg. Similar incidents have also occurred in the Maho and Oyster Pond areas, showing that this criminal activity is not limited to one district but is affecting multiple parts of the island.
These crimes not only endanger business owners and employees, but they also harm the safety, reputation, and economic stability of Sint Maarten.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) has been working tirelessly to combat this type of criminal activity. Through intensive investigations, surveillance operations, intelligence gathering, and coordinated law enforcement efforts, several suspects directly involved in these crimes have been arrested. KPSM continue to dedicate long hours, often placing themselves at personal risk, to protect the people and businesses of Sint Maarten.
However, despite these arrests, the robberies and break-ins continue.
This repeated pattern strongly indicates that these crimes are not isolated or random. They are organized, planned, and coordinated by one or more individuals operating behind the scenes persons who recruit others, provide direction, and finance these criminal acts while remaining out of sight.
Let us be very clear:
If there is no buyer or organizer, there will be no robber.
If there is no fencer, there will be no stealer.
Someone within our community knows who is behind these crimes. Someone sees the sudden flow of money, hears the conversations, recognizes suspicious behavior, or is aware of who is benefiting from the stolen jewelry.
KPSM cannot fight this battle alone.
Crime survives because of silence. Organized theft continues because individuals are being protected by those who refuse to speak. When criminals in the shadows profit while others risk their lives and livelihoods, the entire community pays the price.
This is no longer only a police matter it is a community responsibility.

If you suspect someone is purchasing or trafficking stolen jewelry, report it.
If you have information no matter how small share it with KPSM.
All information will be handled confidentially. What matters is stopping those who continue to exploit and endanger our island for personal gain.
