Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, the Honorable Dr. Luc F.E. Mercelina, has congratulated the players, coaches, families and people of Curaçao following Pariba Little League’s victory as the 2026 Little League Baseball World Series Champions.
Prime Minister Dr. Mercelina has also personally extended congratulations to the Prime Minister of Curaçao, the Honorable Gilmar Pisas, on behalf of the Government and people of Sint Maarten.
“This is a tremendous achievement for Curaçao and a proud moment for all of us within the Kingdom. These young players represented their island with discipline, confidence and determination, and today they can proudly call themselves world champions,” Prime Minister Mercelina stated.
The championship adds another proud chapter to Curaçao’s sporting history and is especially meaningful given the longstanding ties between Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The two islands share generations of family connections, friendships, culture and history.
“When Curaçao succeeds on the world stage, we celebrate with them. Our islands have a rich history together, and this victory shows once again the talent that exists among our Caribbean people,” the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Dr. Mercelina also pointed to the championship as a powerful message for young people throughout Sint Maarten and the wider Caribbean.
“To our young people, never allow the size of the island you come from to determine the size of your dreams. With hard work, discipline, faith and the right support, you can reach your maximum God-given potential. These young champions from Curaçao have shown us exactly that.”
The Prime Minister concluded, “Pabien Curaçao! Pabien Pariba Little League! Sint Maarten celebrates with you. You have made your families, your island, The Kingdom and the Caribbean proud. May this championship inspire many more young people across our islands to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.”
