Following an initial clearance sale organized in March, the Red Cross of Saint-Martin held its last Saturday second charity sale of the yearA third edition could even be organised as the holiday season approaches.
These meetings, organized annually by the humanitarian association, allow both to to do good deals and support stocks conducted among the most vulnerable people in the territory.
On Saturday, at the Red Cross premises in Concordia, about ten people were rummaging through huge bins of clothing. Shirts, swimsuits, dresses, pants, skirts, shoes, books, and even baby car seats: everyone could find something they needed at bargain prices. unbeatable priceFor the occasion, a twenty volunteers were mobilised.
The objective is twofold: to allow the public to equip themselves at low prices, particularly as the start of the school year approaches, while raising funds to support the association's activities“Every euro or dollar collected during the flea market helps us to support the people who benefit from Red Cross activities throughout the year,” explains Frantz Acramel, interim administrator of the territorial delegation of the Red Cross in Saint-Martin.
All Mondays, Wednesdays and FridaysThey thus host people in great need, so that they can have a coffee, a light meal, but also shower, change their clothes, wash and dry their laundry or simply chat with the volunteer teams.
Donations are accepted all year roundDonations come from individuals and businesses alike in Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy, and the Dutch side. “We accept all donations systematically,” assures Frantz Acramel. After sorting, items in good condition can be redistributed to those in need or offered at flea markets. It's a concrete way to give objects a second life while contributing to local solidarity. _DR
