Two tropical waves are currently being monitored in the Atlantic, with particular attention being paid to the first, which is heading towards the Lesser Antilles.

Although no cyclonic phenomena are expected at this stage in Saint-Martin, a deterioration in the weather is anticipated from Friday evening.

Located approximately 2.000 km from the Lesser Antilles as of August 13, Tropical Wave 32 is developing, according to Météo-France, in an environment favorable to its intensification before encountering less favorable conditions. The system is currently moving west-northwest and is expected to reach the Lesser Antilles by the end of the week. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) estimates that a tropical depression could form within the next 24 to 48 hours, but that its development should then be limited by stronger upper-level winds and dry air.

Météo-France forecasts a marked deterioration in the weather in the Lesser Antilles between Friday evening and Sunday, with the possibility of the system developing into a strong tropical wave, a tropical depression, or even a weak tropical storm. Gusts of wind and heavy rainfall are possible, regardless of the system's evolution.

Further east, tropical wave #33, located south of the Cape Verde Islands, shows more moderate development potential. Its showers and thunderstorms remain disorganized for the time being, but conditions should favor gradual development. According to the NHC, a tropical depression could form by the end of the week or this weekend.

The storm is expected to continue its westward or west-northwestward path across the tropical Atlantic. Forecasts regarding its trajectory and intensity are being refined daily. It therefore remains important to regularly monitor the development of these systems to prepare for any eventuality during the hurricane season. _VX
