Le Caribbean Culture Fund (CCF) continues its support for Caribbean artistic creation with the announcement of 21 new projects and residence programs selected as part of its fourth and fifth calls for projects.
This new wave leads to 100 the number of initiatives supported in 32 territories from the region. Among the winners are several projects directly related to Saint-Martin.
On the creative side, the talented David Gumbs, behind the lighting design of Fort Louis in 2023 with Ethno Spiritssees his multimedia project 'The Tides of Infinite Passage Selected for funding. This will be developed in Saint-Martin. On the other side of our border, the artist and creator Jean Oneli Blaise is also retained with VR Soualiga, a immersive video game project which will be implemented in Sint Maarten and will showcase the island's identity through new technologies.
Saint-Martin will also host two artist residency programs. Association SAFE will develop 'Bodies and Memories' (body and memories), while the collective HeadMade Factory, presented by Florence Poirier NKPA, will continue its own residence intended to offer artists a space for creation, research and exchange. The territory is thus among the seven Caribbean destinations selected. to host these programs, alongside the Barbados, Curaçao, the Dominique, the Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The CCF is banking on Caribbean creativity
The projects selected by the CCF, led by Kellie Magnus, cover a wide range of disciplinesranging from film and theatre to photography and digital archives, including architecture, heritage, and multimedia arts. artistic residencies Meanwhile, they aim to promote regional collaborations and to offer creators time, resources and a professional network to develop their works.
The beneficiaries were chosen by independent juries based on the quality of their proposal, its feasibility, and its alignment with the fund's objectives, which support initiatives combining artistic creation, innovation, knowledge transfer, and Caribbean cooperation.
