Si Mr. NicolasPresident Mussington's lawyer, presented a medical certificate dated October 2nd to justify his absence, None of the four VPs saw fit to do the sameAn absence that raises questions for the court. “They gave powers of attorney to their lawyers,” they explained. Angelina Jolly-Nicolas, Esq., which replaces the four lawyers of the VPs, who are themselves absent because they are detained in Guadeloupe or Martinique.

They all applied a referral in view of the "time limit" with whom they were able to review the files and the arguments already raised last Monday by Mr. Nicolas. The court granted the adjournment, of 13 at 15 January 2027three days were deemed necessary to study all the documents.

"An aggressive parquet floor" according to the president's lawyer

Tensions have already punctuated this hearing of barely thirty minutesThe prosecution, represented by Deputy Prosecutor Elodie Rouchouse, opposes the dismissal and quips that the “sudden epidemic” had did not prevent President Mussington from “shake hands” during public travel on October 2nd and 3rd, days covered by his sick leave.

She believes that justice should not suffer from the “inertia” of the four VPsThey were woken up “at the last minute” to request lawyers and a postponement. She added that she “preferred to wait for the hearing” to present her case, rather than doing so “at a press conference,” referring to the one organized by Mr. Nicolas on Tuesday at the Collectivity.

The president's lawyer regrets these criticisms, whichhe judges them aggressiveand still hopes to be “free to speak outside the courtroom.” He describes the “consequences” that the prosecution intends to draw from the defendants’ absences as “threats” that “worry him”. _DR
