MARIGOT - On Friday, September 18, a 35-year-old woman appeared in court for having thrown boiling oil on her spouse. She was sentenced to 24 months in prison, including 12 suspended sentences.
On June 24th, around 4 a.m., the police were called to the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital. J. was admitted after having boiling oil poured on 14% of his body. Burned in the second degree to the face, neck, chest and arms, he receives 30 days of incapacity for work. According to his account, he was asleep when the pain woke him up. His partner L., with whom he has shared his life for seven years, had just thrown oil at him. after discovering his infidelity.
“An accumulation of years of suffering”
In court, the defendant admitted to the acts. “I know it’s not normal,” she stated, explaining to have “cracked” after several years of domestic violence. She also claims to have been beaten on the night of the incident, when she allegedly confronted J. to his infidelity. The man in his forties, already convicted of violence against an ex-partner, He denies these accusations.
The psychological evaluation conducted during L.'s police custody described a "cumulative experience of years of suffering" and a woman who "appears to have been enduring physical and psychological abuse for several years." Elements of the case called into question
J.'s lawyer disputes this version and questions the authenticity of the messages from threats from J. against L., produced by the defense to support the defendant's statements.
