GREAT BAY--The St. Maarten Tourism Bureau (STB) is expanding its efforts to attract American visitors beyond its established tourism markets, recently staging promotional roadshows in Dallas, Texas, and Los Angeles, California, to introduce the island to travel professionals, media representatives and potential industry partners. The initiative is intended to strengthen St. Maarten's visibility in two major American markets while creating opportunities for increased visitor arrivals, new airline connections and tourism-related partnerships.

The roadshows were organized with the support of Diamond PR, the Tourism Bureau's United States public relations and marketing agency, as part of a broader strategy to diversify the island's visitor base and strengthen its competitiveness within the American travel market.

According to STB, both events were designed to provide participants with a direct introduction to St. Maarten's tourism product, including its dual-nation character, range of accommodations, cultural experiences, restaurants, beaches and recreational activities.

Rather than relying exclusively on conventional advertising, the bureau sought to engage travel advisors and other industry representatives who influence vacation decisions and can help position St. Maarten among destinations considered by American travelers.

The selection of Dallas reflects the Tourism Bureau's interest in reaching travelers from a major metropolitan area with substantial purchasing power and extensive international aviation connections.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport serves as one of American Airlines' principal hubs, connecting travelers to numerous domestic and international destinations.

STB believes the city's aviation infrastructure, established travel industry and consumer market provide opportunities to introduce St. Maarten to new audiences while exploring the potential for stronger air connectivity.

The Dallas roadshow focused on building relationships with travel advisors, industry stakeholders and other professionals who can promote the destination to their clients.

Although the bureau identified opportunities to explore future airlift, it did not announce any new airline routes or commitments resulting from the event.

In Los Angeles, the bureau targeted a market known for its travel industry, media presence and entertainment sector.

STB sees opportunities to introduce St. Maarten to travelers seeking Caribbean destinations beyond their usual vacation choices.

The bureau also identified potential cooperation with entertainment professionals, content creators and media organizations that could generate additional exposure for the island.

According to STB, Los Angeles offers possibilities for destination features, promotional collaborations and potential film and television production partnerships.

These opportunities remain exploratory, with no specific production agreements or partnerships announced.

The bureau emphasized that direct interaction with industry professionals allows its representatives to provide accurate destination information, answer questions and develop relationships that may support future tourism business.

The United States remains St. Maarten's primary tourism source market, making continued engagement with American travelers important to the country's visitor economy.

However, STB believes there is room to expand awareness beyond the US cities and regions from which St. Maarten traditionally attracts visitors.

The Dallas and Los Angeles initiatives form part of that approach, with the bureau seeking to increase recognition of the destination among travel professionals and potential visitors who may be less familiar with the island.

STB also views the roadshows as opportunities to gather information about traveler preferences, industry expectations and potential areas for future marketing activities.

The bureau said the direct engagement achieved through the two events represents progress in its efforts to strengthen relationships with travel industry stakeholders and develop new tourism opportunities.

While the promotional activities were completed successfully, STB did not disclose attendance figures, the cost of the roadshows or any confirmed commercial agreements resulting from the visits.

The bureau maintained that expanding its presence in major US markets, strengthening relationships with travel professionals and presenting St. Maarten's tourism offerings to new audiences remain central to its strategy for supporting long-term tourism growth.
