GREAT BAY--The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF), in collaboration with Republic Bank, has officially launched its much-anticipated Carnival 2027 schedule, promising 20 days of non-stop fettin', six days of pre-Carnival events, plenty of culture, spectacular parades and all the energy that makes St. Maarten Carnival one of the Caribbean's most exciting festivals.
Carnival 2027 officially opens on April 15 and closes on May 3, 2027, and the SCDF is once again inviting the world to "Come, Experience Life!"
New SCDF President Marie Gittens, launching her first Carnival schedule since assuming the leadership of the foundation, expressed a mixture of excitement, anticipation and a little anxiety, but above all, confidence that her team, stakeholders, residents and visitors will come together in a spectacular celebration of mas, music and St. Maarten culture.

The colorful schedule was once again designed by Cleon Frederick of So Contagious Studios, who has been creating the official Carnival schedule for well over a decade. The schedule is sponsored by St. Maarten Carnival's official banking partner, Republic Bank.
The SCDF described Republic Bank as much more than a banking partner, calling the institution a dependable and steadfast supporter of St. Maarten's culture and the Carnival product.
"We are thankful and grateful that Republic has stood by Carnival for so many years. Their support is immeasurable," Gittens said.
Following the extended celebrations of Carnival's 55th anniversary in 2026, Carnival 2027 returns to its traditional timeframe. Typically, St. Maarten Carnival runs from mid-April to early May, spanning approximately 18 to 21 days.
"We only go a little extra in anniversary years, so the next time we will see anything as long as 2026 is in 2031 for our 60th celebrations, God willing," Gittens explained.
Local Culture, Big Concerts and Something for Everyone
The complete Carnival 2027 schedule, including pre-Carnival activities, features an impressive lineup of 13 local nights, six international concert nights, three parades and four jump-ups, offering something for every Carnival lover.
And right in the middle of it all stands the heart and soul of St. Maarten Carnival, a venue that is an event all by itself: Carnival Village.
All established promoters and staple events are back for another season of entertainment. Carnival lovers can look forward to Caribbean Flag Fest, II Brothers Entertainment, Bacchanal Sunday, Noche Latina, Reggae Night and Carnival's flagship concert event, Night of the Hit Makers.
Concertgoers can also prepare for The Village Chill, Koncert X and Soca Rumble, while the Calypso Competition, Senior Carnival Queen Pageant, Caribbean Carnival Queen Pageant, Band Clash Competition and Youth Extravaganza round out a packed entertainment lineup.
Three Parades, Including the Return of the Lighted Labour Day Parade!
Of course, Carnival would not be Carnival without the color, creativity, costumes and excitement of the road! Revelers can look forward to three major parades: the Junior Carnival Parade, the Grand Carnival Parade and the return of the Lighted Labour Day Parade.
Gittens explained that the SCDF has officially transformed what was traditionally the second day of the Grand Carnival Parade into a lighted parade, following the success of the concept during Carnival 2026.
"The light parade is something we wanted to do for years. After the success of 2026 and the feedback from troupe leaders and revelers alike, we decided to make it a permanent fixture in Carnival. We hope it will continue to grow and flourish," Gittens said.
The decision adds another dimension to the road experience, giving revelers, troupe leaders and spectators an opportunity to enjoy the spectacle of Carnival costumes and illuminated displays.
Four Jump-Ups to Keep the Road Energy Flowing
And for those who love nothing more than the sound of a big truck, a powerful band and thousands of people moving together through the streets, Carnival 2027 has four jump-ups ready to deliver!
The annual Causeway Jump-Up will get things moving, followed by the Carnival Village Opening Jump-Up. Then comes one of the most anticipated events of every Carnival season, the Jouvert Morning Jump-Up, before the Closing Jump-Up brings the road festivities to an end.
More Surprises Could Be on the Way
Gittens explained that the foundation could not accommodate every event that it or its stakeholders wanted to include on the official schedule. However, she hinted that Carnival lovers should not rule out a few new surprises as the season approaches.
She stressed that Carnival has always been about the collective effort of hundreds of people, each contributing their creativity, talent, resources and hard work to make the festival successful.
"Carnival has grown and is successful because of the creativity, hard work, dedication and commitment by everyone to their specific roles in the festival. The SCDF brings it all together, but it takes hundreds of others to do their part in order for it to come together," Gittens said.
For the new president, maintaining the festival's cultural identity will be a major priority, which is why locally themed events continue to outnumber international concert nights on the schedule.
"We will focus heavily on our culture, which is why our locally themed events far outnumber any other. We are excited about what our troupe leaders are doing, our bands, artists, booth holders. Everyone has expressed that they are ready to go for 2027. We look forward to the support and cooperation from the public, the government and the business community for all of our stakeholders and for Carnival in general," Gittens said.
With the official schedule now released, the excitement can begin in earnest as troupe leaders prepare their costumes, bands and artists get ready to hit the stage, promoters prepare their productions and Carnival lovers start planning their season.
The SCDF is inviting residents, visitors, the business community and Carnival supporters everywhere to embrace the spirit of the festival and help make Carnival 2027 another celebration to remember.
